A collaborative book project about individualism, illustrated by the development of self-portraits throughout art history. The project included research, artwork selection, book design, and essay writing. The publication was designed as a printed exhibition.

The Individual is something we highly value within the Western world. We cherish the idea of standing out, being different, unforgettable. The importance of the self and self-identity has been slowly rising over the centuries. The book explores this process through the works we make as artists. How did the self-portrait and, thus, the way we view ourselves change concerning the historical and political background? If at the beginning of the book, the Self states, “Here I am!”, towards the end, it loses this confidence and starts to question its own identity and presence.
